Privacy

The PrimeCam app collects nothing, transmits nothing, and stores nothing outside your device.
This is enforced by the app’s manifest, not by a promise: the app ships without the
Android INTERNET permission, so the operating system will not let it open a
network connection even if it tried.
This website is a separate thing, and one part of it does collect something: if you type your address into the invite form, we keep it so we can send you build invites. That is the whole of it, it is described in the mailing list below, and it never reaches the app.
Who we are
PrimeCam is published by VectraSEO LLC (operator of PrimeCam), a Pennsylvania limited liability company, which is the data controller for the purposes of the UK and EU GDPR. Because the app collects nothing, that role is close to empty — but the law wants a named party behind the statement, and so should you. A registered mailing address is available on written request to privacy@primecam.app.
What we collect
From the app: nothing. PrimeCam has no accounts, no sign-in, no analytics, no crash reporting, no advertising identifiers, and no third-party SDKs that phone home. We do not know who you are, that you installed the app, or that you used it.
From this website: your email address, and only if you hand it over. The site sets no cookies, runs no analytics, and fingerprints nobody. The single exception is the invite form, described next. Reading this page collects nothing.
The invite mailing list
If you submit the invite form on the home page, we collect:
- Your email address — so we can send you an invite to the internal test and, later, release notes. Required, because there is nowhere else to send it.
- Which phone you shoot on, if you choose to type it — optional, and used only to decide which device gets tested after the Pixel 10.
The list is double opt-in. Submitting the form creates a pending entry and sends you one confirmation email; if you do not click the link in it, the pending entry expires and you are never added. We do not add anyone by any other route, and we do not buy, rent, or import lists.
Legal basis (UK/EU GDPR): consent, Article 6(1)(a), given by confirming the link. You can withdraw it at any time by writing to privacy@primecam.app, and every list email we send also carries an unsubscribe link. Withdrawal removes you; it does not undo emails already sent.
Retention. We keep a confirmed address until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it, and unconfirmed entries expire on their own. There is no other schedule, because there is nothing else to schedule.
Where it goes. The list is stored and sent by emcognito (ec.emcognito.com), acting as our processor and holding it only to run the list. It is not sold, rented, shared with advertisers, or used to build a profile of you, and it is never loaded into the app — the app still cannot open a network connection at all.
You do not have to use the form. Mailing hello@primecam.app reaches the same people.
What the app accesses on your device
- Camera — to show a preview and record video. Required.
- Microphone — to record audio with your video. Required.
- Notifications — to show an ongoing notification while a recording is running, so Android does not stop it and so you can see it is rolling.
- Nearby Bluetooth devices — only to list connected Bluetooth microphones so you can choose one as an audio input. No pairing data leaves the device.
Recordings and their JSON sidecar files are written to your device’s own movie storage. They are yours. The app never copies, uploads, indexes, or reads them for any purpose other than showing you the take you just shot.
Keeping it safe
We hold no copy of your footage, so there is no database of ours that could be breached and no credential of ours that could be stolen. What protects your recordings is the same thing that protects the rest of your phone: Android’s per-app sandbox, your device encryption, and your screen lock. Files written to shared storage can be read by other apps you grant storage access to, so treat them as you would any other video on the device.
How long anything is kept
From the app we keep nothing, because we receive nothing; the only thing we hold at all is a
mailing-list address, on the terms set out above. Your recordings and their sidecar files live in your device’s
own Movies and Documents folders and stay there until you delete
them — including after you uninstall PrimeCam, which by design does not take
your footage with it. To remove a take, delete it as you would any other file on the phone.
Subject detection
Focus following identifies eyes, faces, bodies and animals entirely on-device, using machine-learning models bundled inside the app package. No image, frame, or detection result is ever sent anywhere. There is no server to send it to.
What we share
Nothing from the app, with anyone, ever — there is no data to share, and no permission with which to share it. The one thing we hand to anybody is a mailing-list address, and it goes to emcognito, the processor that runs the list, and to nobody else. We do not sell or share personal information, and we have never done so.
Your rights
If you are in the EU, UK, California, or another place with a comprehensive privacy law, you have rights to access, correct, delete, port, and object to the processing of your personal information, and not to be discriminated against for exercising them. If you have never given us your email address, a request will return an empty answer, because the app hands us nothing to hold. If you are on the invite list, those rights apply to that address, and the quickest of them is the unsubscribe link in any email we send. We do not sell or share personal information, and we have never done so. Write to privacy@primecam.app if you want that in writing.
Children
PrimeCam is intended for adults. It is not directed to children, we do not market it to them, and its Google Play target audience is declared as 18 and over. It has no social features, no user content sharing, and no data collection of any kind, so it neither knowingly nor unknowingly collects personal information from a child. The invite form on this website is meant for adults too; if we learn that an address on the list belongs to a child, we delete it.
Google Play
If you install PrimeCam through Google Play, Google collects installation and device information under its own privacy policy, independently of us. During internal testing we can see aggregate, anonymised crash and installation counts that Google reports to developers. We receive no personal information from Google and cannot identify individual testers.
Changes
If this policy ever changes, the revised version will be posted here with a new date. If a future version of PrimeCam were ever to add network access, that would be stated here plainly and in the app before it happened.
